As a youth pastor, I have been guilty of being too critical of "my" students' parents. I have even been so frustrated (rightly so sometimes) that i have exclaimed (not rightly so...) "parents can be so stupid!!" Well, as much as that may be the case, i am a believer that i just might be the same way if i had walked in their shoes, and this helps me retain a level of grace and patience for the parent and sanity for me! However there is something us parents need to grasp and it will revolutionize our parenting. ready... WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ATTITUDE AS CHILDREN! "but they dont listen." well thats because we havent taught them to. "they talk back and get an attitude" thats because we didnt teach them that that is unacceptable!
Parents, wake up!!!!!!!!!!!! you are in their life with authority you have for a reason! you are the parent! You decide what they do and how they do it and if you need to, apologize later! because at that point, they will at least respect you as a decisive and authoritative parent. and not just a friend they like when they feel like it! News flash: just liking you when they feel like it will happen anyways!
