QUALITY VS. QUANTITY

At the Gym this morning i had a thought and realized that there is an epic dual between 2 ideas that presents itself in just about every area of our lives. Heres what i was thinking: "If i focused on one muscle group and really concentrated for 30 minutes, my workout would be more effective than a randon 45 minute workout. and it seems whether i am at the gym, at home being a dad or husband, spending money, studying scripture / communicating with God, or leading/reaching people that QUALITY is much more effective than QUANTITY. You may be saying, "well duuhh!" (in a 4th grader's voice), but lets face it...how often do we chase quantity?! We love collecting things and can be so easily consumed with storing up and showing off our 'pile' of things, money, people and of course friends (myspace and facebook)! where does this come from?!

there is something in me that just screams, "Let's appreciate, do well and focus on the time, money and people we have now and when quantity comes...woohoo!"
Truth: Jesus had twelve (Ok, 11) and He's God and all and could do anything, but it begs the question, 'why didnt He have more and would the same world-changing results had taken place if he'd had "lots" of disciples'?

I think this goes hand-in-hand with creating a legacy. What do you do that will impact another's life so much that they will tell others about it and it may make them tell their friends about it? Jesus didn't need more than 12. In fact, as your message stated, maybe having more than 12 would have been detrimental to his ministry. The quality of his ministry to those 12 was so big that they couldn't help but tell others about their friend Jesus. Do you know people that you tell others about regardless of the fact that they don't know that person? More importantly, do you have someone in your life that talks about you (positively or negatively) to others? What legacy are you living?
